The Shop and Workshop

The Bicycle Hub is a buzzing place with a massive cycle community locally.

The Bicycle Hub was established in Jackfield in December 2006 and has grown to be one of the most dynamic cycle shops of its type in the region. In its first 5 years in Jackfield the team enjoyed fantastic success and recognition for the unique mix of cycle services and the diversity of cycle products available.

Since then, the business has expanded and we felt that it would benifit our customers by moving the family, leisure and commuting part of the shop to a more central location at the new Visitor Centre in Telford Town park.  The Jackfield shop has been renamed Bicycle by Design and now concentrates on niche brands and manufacturing our own bespoke hand-made frames under the Swallow and Landescape names, and still offersbike  servicing.

The Bicycle Hub in the Park is a buzzing place with a massive local cycle community. But it is the people that make it such a fantatstic place are our spokes-people who are all specialists and cyclists too. They always give friendly service and un-biased, no-nonsense advice. If you don't talk "bike geek talk" then we won't too!

Both shops are located only three hours away from 70% of the UK's population so we are easy to get to.

The Hub sits within the Park's Visitor centre and is in easy reach of the local cycle network as National Cycle Route 55 is right on our doorstep.  We have a café right next door. And obviously the park is a great place to visit, lots of space to ride, walk or take time out in the a quite cool shady spot in the summer.  Plus there are loads of facilities for children young and old.

The original Bicycle Hub was opend and developed by Peter Bird and was never going to be traditional bike shop. His bold statement of an open-plan public viewing workshop and service centre in the heart of the shop has proved popular and illustrates the confidence of him and his team.  This concept continues in the Bicycle Hub in the Park.

The shop is on one level and with open plan servicing bays for all to see. We have an outside courtyard for bike hire.

Training is a major part of the Bicycle Hub and courses are held throughout the year in the shop including  maintenance and child and adult cycle training. Courses on wheel building and bicycle frame building are held at Bicycles by Design in Jackfield.

The visitor centre itself is a 'passive' building, meaning that it is not heated and that the inside temperature remains a fairly constant 16 degrees the whole year round.
