Download the Wroxeter Roman Vineyard Map 1 and Map 2 A 4 to 6 hour ride which takes in two National Trust properties and a long-established vineyard that's now growing olives! The ride leaves the Bicycle Hub and turns left up the easiest hill out of the Gorge (except it does go on a bit!) skirting around Broseley to visit Benthall Hall on your right. Continue to take the next right to Wyke to drop down onto the A4169. Here you need to turn left, then take the next right to Cressage. In Cressage, turn right onto the B4380. At the crossroads turn left, and then take the next left to Eyton on Severn and on to Wroxeter Roman Vineyard on your right. Pop in for a browse and a taste if you're lucky. Continue straight on for the Roman settlement remains, where a interpretation board awaits you. Once finished there, turn left back onto the B4380 and you will arrive at the grand entrance of Attingham Park where you can get lunch in the tea rooms inside the estate. Please make sure when you arrive that the staff know that you have arrived by bicycle by asking them where the bicycle parking is, as entrance is FREE for cyclists. Leave Attingham by the exit road and turn right on to Upton Magna on the NCN 45 which swiches to Withington on NCN 81. Follow this to Wrockwardine and exit NCN 81 towards the Wrekin through Cluddley following the edge of the Wrekin on your left. Then comes a climb to Little Wenlock with a view at the top over south Shropshire (but you will be puffing or walking!). Now follow NCNH 45 to Ironbridge and on to the Bicycle Hub on the NCN 45. Total distance 35 miles |
