Around the Wrekin Local Ride

Download the Around the Wrekin map (pronounced 'Wreeking!')

A 2 to 4 hour ride.  The ride leaves the Bicycle Hub in the Park via NCN 55 to the Ironbridge Gorge. Cross the river via the the Memorial bridge at Jackfield and follow the signs to the Tile Museum, going past the Museum on the NCN 45 along to the Iron Bridge and then passes the Green Wood Centre , well worth a visit. The climb up is a bit tough but you can alway walk and enjoy the surroundings. You cross over the Buildwas bypass and ride on to Little Wenlock, a much smaller village than its sister Much Wenlock. Then a swooping decent takes you past the Wrekin on your right. If you want to add to your trip, take a walk up the Wrekin to enjoy the views across Shropshire. This will add approximately 1 - 2 hours to your day. Past the Wrekin, take a left to Rushton on the west side of the Wrekin. Ride on down to Leighton, where on your right there's a view across to the Ironbridge Gorge with one of many meanders on the river Severn. The route takes you back along the river Severn through Ironbridge. You'll pass the Iron Bridge on your right. Continue to Coalport where you take the Memorial Footbridge by the Shakespeare Pub to the Boat Inn. Follow the road back to the Bicycle Hub. Total distance 17 miles
